Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data AlterEgo collects, why we collect it, how it is used, and the rights you have over your personal information. We do not sell your data. Ever.

1. Who We Are

AlterEgo is operated by Tethered Tech, LLC (“Tethered Tech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a limited liability company registered in the State of Florida. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the AlterEgo mobile application on iOS, Android, and Web platforms.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the AlterEgo experience. Here is a complete breakdown:

We do not collect: precise GPS location, contacts, browsing history, data from other apps, or any information unrelated to your AlterEgo experience.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect exclusively to:

Create, authenticate, and maintain your account
Generate your AI goal avatar using your biometric data and photos
Calculate XP rewards and track your level progression
Generate personalized activity suggestions based on your history and goals
Generate personalized AI activity suggestions based on your logged history and progress toward your next level
Trigger milestone celebration animations and generate shareable photo cards and video clips of your achievements
Send push notifications for activity reminders, streak alerts, level progress, and milestone celebrations (only with your explicit permission)
Process and verify your subscription status
Generate weekly narrative summaries of your progress
Improve the App through aggregated, anonymized analytics (only if you have opted in through your device settings)
Respond to your support requests and legal inquiries

We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell your data to third parties, and do not share your data with marketing partners.

4. Biometric Data and Body Photos

Body Photographs

Photos are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in private, access-controlled cloud storage
Photos are never publicly accessible, never indexed, and never viewable by Tethered Tech employees
Photos are used solely to pass to our AI avatar generation model to produce your goal avatar image
The generated avatar image is stored in your account; original photos are retained only as long as your account is active
All original photos and generated avatar images are permanently deleted upon account deletion

Biometric Measurements

Height, weight, and goal weight data are stored in your private account record
This data is used only to personalize your AlterEgo experience and is never shared with third parties
You may update your biometric data at any time through your profile settings

5. Push Notifications

AlterEgo sends push notifications to support your fitness journey, including daily activity reminders if you have not logged by evening, alerts when you are close to your next level, warnings when your streak is at risk, and milestone celebration alerts. Push notifications require your explicit permission, which is requested within the App with a clear explanation before any notifications are sent.

You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device’s system notification settings. Opting out does not affect your ability to use any features of the App.

6. Subscription and Payment Data

All subscription payments are processed through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). Tethered Tech, LLC does not receive, store, or have access to your payment card number, billing address, or any other financial details. These are handled entirely and securely by Apple and Google under their respective privacy policies.

We receive only confirmation of your subscription status (active, trial, lapsed, or cancelled) and your billing dates, which are stored in your account record to manage your access to the App.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

LastApp.ai: Our app development and hosting platform, which provides the backend infrastructure, cloud database, and AI model integration. Data is processed under their data processing agreement.
Apple / Google: For authentication (Apple Sign In) and subscription billing (In-App Purchase / Play Billing), subject to their respective privacy policies.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tethered Tech, LLC or others.

No other third parties receive your personal data.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit
Private, access-controlled cloud storage for photos and user data
Secure credential storage using Apple Keychain (iOS) and Android Keystore (Android)
Backend database not exposed to the public internet

While we take data security seriously, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to notifying affected users promptly in the event of a data breach.

9. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Right to Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal data through your profile settings.
Right to Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data permanently via the Delete My Account feature in the App.
Right to Data Portability: Request an export of your activity data and progress history.
Right to Opt Out: Opt out of optional analytics and crash reporting at any time through your device settings.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for push notifications at any time through your device's system notification settings.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. 11. Children's Privacy

AlterEgo is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 18 has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately at info@tethtech.org.

12. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. Specifically:

Account and activity data is retained while your account is active
Body photographs and biometric data are retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account deletion
Subscription records may be retained for up to 7 years for financial and legal compliance purposes, in anonymized form after account deletion
Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify individual users

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
