Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the AlterEgo app or any services provided by Tethered Tech, LLC. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Tethered Tech, LLC (“Tethered Tech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a limited liability company registered in the State of Florida, governing your use of the AlterEgo mobile application and any related services (collectively, the “App”).

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

AlterEgo is a lifestyle RPG fitness tracking application that gamifies real-world physical activity. The App maps user activity to an evolving hero avatar that levels up as users engage in consistent physical movement. Features include biometric intake, multi-angle photo onboarding, AI-generated goal avatars, XP tracking, activity logging, AI-powered activity suggestions, milestone celebration animations, push notifications, and shareable achievement content including photo cards and short video clips.

AlterEgo is intended for general wellness and motivational purposes only. It is not a medical application, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or fitness guidance.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Access to AlterEgo requires an active paid subscription. The following subscription plans are available:

  • Monthly Plan: $2.99 per month, billed monthly
  • Annual Plan: $19.99 per year, billed annually

All new subscribers receive a 3-day free trial. No charge is made during the trial period. At the end of the trial, your selected subscription plan will begin and your payment method will be charged automatically.

Auto-Renewal Notice: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings.

All payments are processed through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). Tethered Tech, LLC does not directly handle or store payment card information. Pricing is subject to change with reasonable notice to users.

Refunds are governed by Apple’s and Google’s respective refund policies. Tethered Tech, LLC does not independently issue refunds for subscription charges already processed through Apple or Google.

4. Free Trial Terms

The 3-day free trial is available to new subscribers only. One free trial per Apple ID or Google Play account. Tethered Tech, LLC reserves the right to determine eligibility for free trial offers. If you cancel before the end of the trial period, you will not be charged. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and your payment method will be charged.

5. User Accounts

You must create an account to use AlterEgo. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may not share your account with others or use another person’s account without permission. Tethered Tech, LLC reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Biometric Data and Photos

The App collects biometric information including height, weight, goal weight, and activity level, as well as up to six body photographs taken during onboarding. This data is used solely to generate your personal goal avatar and to personalize your experience within the App.

  • Your photos are stored securely in private cloud storage and are never publicly accessible.
  • Your biometric data and photos are never sold to third parties.
  • You may request deletion of all your data, including photos and biometric information, at any time through the Delete My Account feature in the App.

By using the photo onboarding feature, you grant Tethered Tech, LLC a limited license to use your submitted photos solely for the purpose of generating your in-app avatar. This license terminates upon deletion of your account.

7. AI-Generated Content

AlterEgo uses artificial intelligence to generate your goal avatar based on the biometric data and photos you provide, and to generate personalized activity suggestions based on your logged history and progress toward your next level. AI-generated content is produced algorithmically and is for motivational and entertainment purposes only. Tethered Tech, LLC makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, fitness, or medical appropriateness of any AI-generated content, including activity suggestions. Always consult a qualified fitness or healthcare professional before acting on any AI-generated activity recommendations.

8. Shareable Content and Intellectual Property

The App allows you to generate and share milestone celebration content including branded static photo cards and short looping video clips of your milestone animations. You retain ownership of any content you create and share. By using the sharing features, you grant Tethered Tech, LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to display the AlterEgo branding and watermark on your shareable content for attribution purposes. Shareable content is generated on your device and shared via your device’s native share sheet. Tethered Tech, LLC does not store, access, or transmit your shareable content.

All AlterEgo branding, design, software, and content created by Tethered Tech, LLC are protected by intellectual property laws and remain the exclusive property of Tethered Tech, LLC. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our intellectual property without written permission.

9. Push Notifications

AlterEgo sends push notifications to support your fitness journey, including daily activity reminders if you have not logged activity by evening, alerts when you are close to your next level, warnings when your streak is at risk, and milestone celebration alerts. Push notifications require your explicit permission, which is requested within the App with a clear explanation before any notifications are sent. You may opt out of push notifications at any time through your device’s system notification settings. Opting out does not affect your ability to use any features of the App.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • Upload photos of anyone other than yourself
  • Submit false or misleading biometric information
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or interfere with the App or its backend systems
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription billing or access premium features without a valid subscription

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

11. Health and Fitness Disclaimer

AlterEgo is a motivational and gamification tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any new fitness or weight management program. Tethered Tech, LLC is not responsible for any injury, health event, or outcome resulting from physical activities logged or suggested through the App.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Tethered Tech, LLC does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tethered Tech, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by using the Delete My Account feature in the App. Upon termination, all your data, photos, and account information will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

Tethered Tech, LLC reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms, with or without notice. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees except as required by applicable law.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

15. Changes to These Terms

Tethered Tech, LLC reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
